The Oklahoma Championship Steak Cook-off (OCSC) is a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation. Our goal is simple, to make life better for all Tulsan’s.
In our four years we have raised over $100,000 to help a variety of organizations including; Iron Gate, New Hope, Habitat for Humanity, and Rebuilding Together Tulsa.
Starting in 2012 all monies from the cook-off fund “Our Garden Project” . This endeavor establishes community gardens in partnership with churches, schools and others to make produce available to those who have little or no access to it. As of the Spring of 2013 we have over 40,000 square feet of gardens under cultivation. We have many more gardens in the planning stage for planting in the fall of this year and the spring of 2014.
We are extremely proud to have partnered with Guy Fieri’s Cooking with Kids Foundation to provide an Awesome Pretzel Project cart to New Hope. This gives a hands-on opportunity for children to learn how to operate a small business, while giving them a fund raising tool as well. Look for the cart at the cook-off and at other events around town.
We also have teamed up with Circle Cinema and AutismTulsa to have a sensory friendly movie for families with Autistic children.
The OCSC is an entirely volunteer organization and all funds we raise stay in Tulsa. Through various other activities like our annual You Don’t Know Jack dinner, we are able to continue to support efforts to feed the homeless, to improve housing options, and to assist children who have parents in prison.
